battery replacement

Picture
These days, the batteries in smart phones last a very long time.  Sometimes the battery lasts more than two years, and you are eligible for a phone upgrade before your phone’s original battery ever needs to be replaced.  There are ways to prolong the life of the battery in your smart phone.  For example, keep the phone plugged into a charger whenever possible; this way the battery has as much support as possible when it is powering your phone.  It is a good idea to keep one charger in your car, one at work, and one at home, so that your phone battery never gets very low.  A phone that spends several hours per day operating with a charge of less than 20 percent will not last as one that is rarely left with its charge below 50 percent.  If you only have one phone charger, it is a good idea to carry it with you wherever you go, not only to prevent the risk of your battery running out, leaving you unable to contact the people you need to contact, but also to prolong the life of your cell phone battery.  There is some evidence that lithium batteries can suffer damage from overcharging, so if your phone has a lithium battery, you may want to be on the safe side and disconnect it from the charger when the charge reaches 100 percent and then reconnect it when it goes below 100 percent.  You can also prevent unnecessary stress on your phone battery by avoiding exposing your phone to direct sunlight.  Excessive sunlight and heat are bad for cell phones in general but are especially dangerous to phone batteries.  You can also keep your battery from running low by closing apps when you are not actively using them and by deleting apps that you rarely or never use.

Some cell phone batteries last a very long time, so how do you know when your phone needs a new battery?  There are a few obvious signs.  All phones shut down when their batteries run out of charge, but phones with viable batteries respond when you plug them into a working phone charger, and their function returns after a few minutes.  If your phone does not come back to life even when you plug it into a phone charger, you need a new battery.  If your phone works when it is connected to a battery charger but dies as soon as you disconnect it, that is another sign that you need to replace your battery.  Likewise, if your phone works for a little while after you charge it, but it runs out of charge quickly after you disconnect it, you will need to replace your battery very soon.  Other signs that your battery needs to be replace are if your phone feels hot to the touch or if your battery is bulging.

If you think your phone may need a new battery, bring it to Elkhart Cell Phone Repair.  We will give you the best price possible for a new battery, and you will never have to pay for us to diagnose the problem, only for repairs we actually make.
